OSDP Simulator.

Stand in for a controller or a reader on your bench, with Secure Channel, to exercise a device you are testing.

OSDP Simulator

ACU Simulator

Act as the controller: scan for readers, poll them, and watch card reads, keypad entries and status changes as they happen. Send commands from each reader's card, in a secure session if you like.

PD Simulator

Act as a reader: set its identity and capabilities, then answer a real controller. Trigger card reads, keypad input, tamper and power events on demand.

Secure Channel

Encrypted sessions between controller and reader, in both roles, on the default key or the reader's own key. Keys stay in your browser.

What it Does

  • Detect PDs: scan the bus for readers, in either CRC or checksum mode, with advice on wiring problems when nothing answers.
  • Polls the readers you add or detect, and shows their status, card reads, keypad entries and tamper or power changes.
  • Sends commands from a reader's card: identity, capabilities, status, LED, buzzer, output and change address.
  • Secure Channel: starts a secure session with a reader, on the default key or on that reader's own key (each reader has its own), then polls and sends commands through it. Keys stay in your browser.
  • Reader (PD) mode: simulate one reader or several on the same bus, each with its own identity, what it has and its own Secure Channel key, answer a real controller, and make cards, keys, tamper, power and input changes happen on demand.
  • An optional raw traffic view (off until you switch it on) shows every byte sent and received on the line, in hex, to help find wiring problems or another device sharing the bus.

Conformance checks have their own tool, OSDP Validator.

What you Need

  • Desktop Chrome or Edge with a USB-to-RS-485 adapter. Your browser asks you to choose the adapter, and the page can only use the one you pick.
  • The reader you want to test, wired to the adapter, and its OSDP address and baud rate. For Secure Channel, the reader's key if it does not use the default.
  • Only one tab can use the adapter at a time, so close any other OSDP Tools tab that has it open.
