OSDP Validator

Automated checks

For a reader: identity, capabilities, status, polling, reply timing, check characters, and how it treats a repeated command or one with a damaged check. For a controller: the page answers as a reader, grades every command it sends, and sees what it does after a damaged reply.

The whole checklist

Every row of the OSDP conformance checklist in one place. Record pass, fail, not applicable or skip for the rows only a person can judge, with a note.

A report you keep

Save the results to a file, open it again later, or print it. Nothing is stored in your browser or on our servers.

What it Does

  • Checks a reader: identity, capabilities, status, polling, reply timing, check characters, how it treats a repeated command or one with a damaged check, and its Secure Channel (the handshake, secured traffic, and the refusals a reader must make).
  • Checks a controller: answers as a reader, grades every command it sends (Secure Channel included), and sees what it does after a damaged reply, a BUSY or a wrong first MAC.
  • Lists the whole OSDP conformance checklist. You record pass, fail, not applicable or skip, with a note, for every row it cannot check itself, such as key set and rekeying.
  • Saves a report to a file you keep, opens it again, or prints it. Nothing is stored in your browser or on our servers.

It is a rehearsal for the OSDP Verified conformance list. It is not a certification and not a substitute for an approved test lab. A device that does not answer at all marks the rows that depend on it “not run”, not failed.

What you Need

  • Desktop Chrome or Edge with a USB-to-RS-485 adapter. Your browser asks you to choose the adapter, and the page can only use the one you pick.
  • The reader or controller to check, wired to the adapter, and (for a reader) its OSDP address and baud rate. For the Secure Channel checks, its key if it does not use the default; the key stays in the page.
  • Only one tab can use the adapter at a time, so close any other OSDP Tools tab that has it open.
